Lanzarote day trips by bus from each resort

The day trips Intercity's lines allow from Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Arrecife, which need a change, and where a tour is honest.

Your bus, at a glance

Most of Lanzarote's day trips start with a bus to Arrecife and a second bus out of it. From the capital, line 7 reaches Teguise, the Jardín de Cactus and Haría; line 9 runs through Guatiza and Arrieta to Jameos del Agua and Órzola, the port for La Graciosa; line 20 goes to Famara; lines 6, 60 and 62 to Yaiza and Playa Blanca, where line 30 circles the town and the Fuerteventura ferry leaves. From Costa Teguise, line 31 reaches Teguise and Famara without the capital, and line 11 runs to the Teguise market on Sundays. The two trips the bus does not make are Timanfaya's Montañas del Fuego and the Papagayo coves; each destination page says what applies and carries the dated board for the way back.

The practical part

The essentials

  1. From Puerto del Carmen

Line 2 to Arrecife is the start of most days, then line 7, 9 or 20 out of the capital. Playa Blanca is direct on line 161 or on line 6 by way of Yaiza, and from its Estación line 30 circles Flamingo, the Muelle, Playa Dorada and Marina Rubicón. Puerto Calero, the marina, is a stop on line 161 in both directions. The journey guide for Arrecife has the board with the stop each bus leaves from.

  2. From Playa Blanca

Lines 60 and 62 run to Arrecife every day on the same table, line 6 by way of Puerto del Carmen; Yaiza is on the way on 60 and 6. Corralejo on Fuerteventura is a ferry from the Muelle, booked separately, and the ferry companies, not Intercity, set its sailings. Line 30's circuit is the local outing; the Papagayo coves lie beyond its last stop at Las Coloradas, with no path this site has measured.

  3. From Costa Teguise

Line 31 is the resort's own way north: through Tahiche and Teguise to Caleta de Famara, with more trips at the weekend on the dates read. Line 11 runs between Costa Teguise and Teguise for the Sunday market. For the Jardín de Cactus, Jameos del Agua, Haría or Órzola, take line 3 (or an early line 1) to Arrecife and change to line 7 or 9.

  4. From Arrecife

Every line starts here, from two hubs: lines 7, 9, 20, 60 and 62 leave from the bus station platforms, and 9, 60 and 62 also call at the Intercambiador on the way out while 7 and 20 do not. Line 7 to Haría prints more trips at the weekend than on a weekday; line 20 to Famara printed none at the weekend on the dates read; line 9 to Órzola printed fewer trips each way on the Saturday and the Sunday read than on the weekday. Read the board before you choose the day.

The north on lines 7 and 9

Line 7 (Arrecife – Máguez) passes Teguise and the Jardín de Cactus at Guatiza, calls at Haría's plaza and runs on through La Cruz de Haría to its terminus at Sociedad de Máguez; line 9 (Arrecife – Órzola) shares the Jardín de Cactus stop, then follows the coast through Arrieta and Punta Mujeres to Jameos del Agua and Órzola. The line 9 page lists departures that do not serve the Jameos del Agua stop in each direction, so check the bus out and the bus back. Both lines called at the Jardín de Cactus on every departure read.

La Graciosa: bus, then boat

Line 9 to Órzola, then a separately booked ferry to Caleta de Sebo with the operator's own check-in rules. Compare the line 9 board with the sailing yourself and leave a generous margin both ways: a bus delay does not hold a boat, and a boat delay does not hold the last line 9. The tourism board's island page and the ferry operator carry what to expect on the island.

Not by bus: Timanfaya and the coves

No public line reaches the Montañas del Fuego entrance; the park's Volcano Route starts behind a car park on the LZ-67 and is a car, a taxi or a booked tour. Line 16 passes Mancha Blanca, the village with the park's visitor centre, which is a different visit. The Papagayo coves are beyond line 30's last stop. For these two, a booked excursion with a confirmed pickup is the honest car-free answer, and the bus is for everything else.
