Lanzarote month by month: weather and what is on

Every month on Lanzarote from AEMET's airport normals: highs, lows, rain days and sunshine, plus the fiestas, carnivals and markets official pages date.

Your bus, at a glance

Lanzarote has no cold month, only cooler and windier ones. AEMET's own normals for Lanzarote Airport, 1981–2010, put the average daily high between 20.7 degrees in January and 29.1 in August, the low between 14.0 and 21.2, rain at three or four days a month in winter and none from June to August, and sunshine from 196 hours in December to 308 in July. The calendar is a string of village fiestas and carnivals, dated by the councils: Puerto del Carmen's carnival in February, Playa Blanca's in early March 2027, San Juan on 23 June, the Dolores pilgrimage in September, Saborea Lanzarote in Teguise at the end of November. The buses keep their three tabs all year; what changes is which one a holiday uses.

The practical part

The essentials

  1. January to March: the coolest, and the most likely to rain

AEMET's highs of 20.7 to 22.9 degrees and lows of 14 to 15, with the year's wettest stretch at still only two to three rain days a month and sunshine climbing from 203 hours in January to 241 in March. Tías' programme opens with the Reyes parade on 5 January, the Candelaria and San Blas fiestas from 22 January to 3 February, Puerto del Carmen's carnival on 19 to 22 February 2026 and St Patrick's events in mid March. Yaiza has already dated Playa Blanca's 2027 carnival: 4 to 7 March, with the parade on Saturday 6 March.

  2. April to June: the rain stops

Highs rise from 23.5 to 26.3 degrees and rain all but vanishes: about one day in April, none by June, with sunshine near 300 hours in May. Tías dates the Music Run Night on 18 April, La Asomada's fiestas from 20 April to 1 May, IRONMAN Lanzarote on 23 May, San Antonio in Tías from 4 to 14 June and the Noche de San Juan on 23 June in Puerto del Carmen.

  3. July to September: the hottest and the sunniest

Highs of 28.2 to 29.1 degrees, lows above 20, no rain to speak of and the year's sunniest month in July at 308 hours. Masdache's Magdalena fiestas run 10 to 22 July, Puerto del Carmen's Carmen fiestas from 27 July to 9 August, and the Romería de los Dolores, the island's pilgrimage to the Virgen de los Dolores at Mancha Blanca, falls on 12 September.

  4. October to December: the island's own season

Highs ease from 26.7 to 21.8 degrees and rain returns, up to nearly four days in December, the wettest month at 29 millimetres. The Noche de los Finaos is on 31 October, Saborea Lanzarote fills Teguise on 28 and 29 November 2026, and Tías runs its Christmas and Reyes programme from 2 December to 6 January, with the Ranchos de Pascua meeting on 23 December.

What the buses do, month by month

Nothing seasonal that this site has verified: Intercity's pages print one timetable per date, and the snapshots behind the boards cover a working weekday, a Saturday and a Sunday for each line. What changes with the calendar is the tab a public holiday uses: for 2 November 2026 Intercity published the Sunday timetable on every line re-read except the Sunday market line 11, so the boards treat that date as a Sunday. From 1 October 2026 line 22D stopped and line 22 was expanded.

Dates are leads, not bookings

Tías' programme calls itself a living document that may change or be cancelled, and it covers one municipality. Yaiza's carnival dates and Teguise's Saborea weekend come from their own announcements. The markets run every week regardless: Teguise on Sunday, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise on Friday, Haría and Arrecife on Saturday.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask

What is the weather in Lanzarote in December?

AEMET's airport normals give December an average high of 21.8 degrees and a low of 15.4, with 3.8 rain days and 196 hours of sunshine: the year's wettest and dullest month, and still warmer than most of Europe's spring. Pack a layer for the evenings and the bus stop.

What is the best month to visit without a car?

For calm beaches and quiet buses, October and November: AEMET's highs of 24 to 27 degrees and under two rain days a month until November. For the fiestas, July and August in Puerto del Carmen and mid September for the Dolores pilgrimage. The boards run the same three tabs every month.

The other half of the plan

And the way back.

Whatever the month, the return bus is on the tab for your day; on 2 November 2026 that is the Sunday tab. Evenings cool off even in summer, so carry a layer for the stop.
