Haría
The valley of a thousand palms
A microclimate makes Haría the green exception in the north, a valley of palms with plants found nowhere else in the archipelago. César Manrique spent his last years here, and his house is now a museum.

Get to know Haría.
In the north of the island, Haría's special microclimate has made it a great green expanse, and the municipality is known as the Valle de las Mil Palmeras, the valley of a thousand palms. César Manrique found peace and a connection to nature here: his final home, in the street parallel to the Elvira Sánchez ravine, opened in 2013 as the César Manrique House Museum. On Saturday mornings the Haría Artesanal market of crafts and organic produce is held in the main square.

- Culture Don’t miss
César Manrique House Museum
The artist's final home opened in 2013 as a museum, with only minimal changes, all respectful of the character of the house.
- Sight Don’t miss
The palm grove from above
The palm grove can be seen from the Mirador de los Helechos, and the Mirador de Haría, also called the Mirador de Malpaso, gives a panoramic view over the valley. Neither is on line 7's stop list, so plan the way to them separately.
- Market Don’t miss
Saturday craft market
Haría Artesanal, set up in 2001 for crafts and products from organic agriculture, is held every Saturday morning in the main square.
- Walk
Climb La Corona
At 609 metres, the volcano is the highest point in the north, and a pleasant hike reaches its crater. It is not on a bus route this guide has read, so plan the walk in separately.
